HCG LEVEL PREGNANCY :
The development of a baby is quite an intricate journey. From the moment that the egg and sperm meet, a baby is beginning the developmental process. This early part of development lays the foundation for a healthy pregnancy and the birth of a healthy baby. Unfortunately, because these early weeks involve such a complex process, things can go wrong and ultimately end in a pregnancy loss. If a possible complication in early pregnancy is suspected, your health care provider will use a combination of blood tests and ultrasound tests to make a clear diagnosis. A blood test can be used to monitor hCG levels and progesterone levels. Ultrasounds can be used to visually see what development is taking place in the uterus and to measure the progress.
It is common to have many questions about what this early development truly involves and what is to be expected. We have gathered information from different sources in order to provide the best guidelines of what normal early fetal development looks like. However, just as every woman is different, every pregnancy develops differently.

HCG HORMONE :
HCG hormone in the blood and urine. Scanning (CT, MRI, PET, ultrasound, or x-rays) is also used to look for tumors in the body in order to stage the disease. When scanning shows no evidence of disease, often the hCG levels are relied on heavily to determine whether the disease is still present in body. Occasionally, there can be other reasons for elevated or fluctuating hCG hormone levels. In these situations, more specialized testing is available and should be considered.
For example, I have had persistent low levels of hCG since my treatment in 1995-97. In an effort to find out why I still had elevated hCG , my doctors suggested more specialized testing. They referred me to a lab that has pioneered highly specialized techniques to determine if there are other reasons for elevated hCG besides GTD. Dr. Larry Cole's HCG Reference Lab at the University of New Mexico determined that my hCG was real hCG, evidence of non-invasive GTD. (Unfortunately, my insurance didn't cover the specialized hCG test, but for my own peace of mind, I paid for it out of my own pocket.)

NORMAL HCG LEVEL :
The hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (better known as HCG) is produced during pregnancy. It is made by cells that form the placenta, which nourishes the egg after it has been fertilized and becomes attached to the uterine wall. Levels can first be detected by a blood test about 11 days after conception and about 12 - 14 days after conception by a urine test. In general the hCG levels will double every 72 hours. The level will reach its peak in the first 8 - 11 weeks of pregnancy and then will decline and level off for the remainder of the pregnancy.
Key things to remember about hCG levels : In a bout 85% of normal pregnancies, the hCG level will double every 48 - 72 hours. As you get further along in pregnancy and the hCG level gets higher, the time it takes to double can increase to about every 96 hours.

LOW HCG LEVEL :
HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is a hormone made by the pregnancy that can be detected in the mother's blood or urine even before the woman's missed period. This hormone is what we look for with a "pregnancy test".
HCG is first detectable in the blood as early as 7-8 days after ovulation by very sensitive HCG assays (research assays). In real life, blood pregnancy tests will be positive (> 2 mIU/ml) by 10-11 days after HCG injection or LH surge.

HCG FOR WEIGHT LOSS :
Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (HCG) combined with a severe diet remains a popular treatment for obesity, despite equivocal evidence of its effectiveness. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, the effects of HCG on weight loss were compared with placebo injections. Forty obese women (body mass index greater than 30 kg/m2) were placed on the same diet supplying 5,000 kJ per day and received daily intramuscular injections of saline or HCG, 6 days a week for 6 weeks.
A psychological profile, hunger level, body circumferences, a fasting blood sample and food records were obtained at the start and end of the study, while body weight was measured weekly. Subjects receiving HCG injections showed no advantages over those on placebo in respect of any of the variables recorded. Furthermore, weight loss on our diet was similar to that on severely restricted intake. We conclude that there is no rationale for the use of HCG injections in the treatment of obesity.

TWIN HCG LEVEL :
Twin pregnancies tend to show higher HCG levels on a given day of pregnancy. However, there is a large variation in HCG levels between pregnancies, and much overlap exists between single and twin pregnancies.
Levels are listed for various days after the ovulatory HCG injection or LH surge
First (same as Third) International Reference Preparation was used (Second IRP gives different values)
"High" is highest seen in this group of pregnancies
"Low" is lowest seen in this group of pregnancies
"#" is the number of tests done for that day in this group of pregnancies.

BETA HCG LEVEL :
Beta HCG "the pregnancy hormone" is produced by the cells of the implanting egg and can be produced in the absence of an embryo. Beta hCG can be detected in maternal plasma or urine by 8 to 9 days after ovulation. The chart to the right illustrates the normal rise and fall of hCG levels throughout pregnancy. hCG reaches a peak level at about 8 to 10 weeks and then declines for the remainder of the pregnancy [1].

The "normal" ranges for the Beta hCG blood pregnancy test are shown in the table below.

HCG PREGNANCY TEST :
Pregnancy Test Instructions are specific to FDA Approved 20 mIU/ml/hCG tests. They are re-published here as a single example of hCG urine pregnancy test instructions. These instructions should not be generalized to other tests - or tests with different hCG sensitivity levels (early-detection threshold).
Home Pregnancy Tests 101, Testing Directions, Use, and Best Procedures : Home pregnancy tests detect, and to some degree measure, human chorionic gonadotropin (a hormone) in urine. Women produce this hormone in elevated quantities when they fall pregnant. Human chorionic gonadotropin - or hCG as it is referred to - begins to appear in high quantities once the fertilized egg or embryo implants to the uterine wall (or the tissue lining of the womb).

HCG LEVEL AFTER MISCARRIAGE :
Most women can expect their levels to return to a non-pregnant range about 4 - 6 weeks after a pregnancy loss has occurred. This can differentiate by how the loss occurred (spontaneous miscarriage, D&C procedure, abortion, natural delivery), and how high the levels were at the time of the loss. Health care providers usually will continue to test HCG levels after a pregnancy loss to ensure they return back to 5.0.
Tiredness :
It is normal to feel emotionally and physically drained following a miscarriage. If possible take a few days off work, and if you can't, make sure you get to bed early, plan rests where possible and postpone anything that isn't urgent.
Make yourself your first priority.

QUANTITATIVE HCG :
If your urine pregnancy test is positive and the situation is low risk, there is usually no reason to check a quantitative hCG. However, if there are risk factors for miscarriage or tubal (or ectopic) pregnancy, serum hCG values can sometimes be helpful.
Simply defined, an ectopic pregnancy is one in which the fertilized egg does not make its way all the way to the uterus, but comes to rest in one of the fallopian tubes. The fallopian tubes are the passageways that connect the ovaries to the uterus. They are not as stretchable as the uterus and are not able to provide the nutrients necessary to maintain a pregnancy. When an egg mistakenly implants in one of these tubes, it typically results in a miscarriage, and in some cases, a breaking of the tube (called a ruptured ectopic). Ectopic pregnancies often cause pain, and in some cases internal bleeding. Most of the time, a tubal pregnancy can be diagnosed and treated before it becomes serious.

HCG LEVEL EARLY PREGNANCY :
Several times a week in my practice, and in my Internet roles at the WebMD Fertility Center and the Pregnancy Board at WebMD, I have the opportunity to deal with early pregnancies and patients who want or need to know if a pregnancy is progressing normally (or not). In my short twenty years in practice, technological advances have come about that allow careful monitoring of pregnancies in the first half of the first trimester. These modalities have the potential to determine the viability of a gestation before any negative sign or symptom develops, and, if used properly they can prevent dangerous complications or reassure patients during uncertain times. But along with the technology and the good comes misuse and inappropriate interpretation that can do a lot of damage and cause a lot of worry in many instances.
There are several reasons to monitor pregnancies during the first few weeks after conception. These include:
* bleeding in early pregnancy.
* possible ectopic pregnancy.
* recurrent miscarriage.
* patient anxiety due to previous pregancy loss.

HCG TEST STRIP :
One Step hCG home pregnancy test Strip OneStep hCG pregnancy test For the rapid determination of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in urine. The test strip is used to obtain a visual qualitative result.INTRODUCTION to home pregnancy test Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein hormone secreted by the developing placenta shortly after fertilization. In normal pregnancy, hCG can be detected in serum as early as 7 days following conception1-2, doubling every 1.3 to 2 days and reading 100 mlU/ml at the first missed menstrual period.
The appearance of hCG soon after conception and its subsequent rise in concentration during early gestational growth make it an excellent marker for the early detection of pregnancy. OneStep Dipstick Pregnancy Test is a qualitative, sandwich dye conjugate immunoassay for the determination of human hCG in urine.4,5 The method employs a unique combination of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies to selectively identify hCG in test samples with a high degree of sensitivity. In less than 5 minutes, elevated levels of hCG as low as 25 mlU/mL can be detected.

HCG OBESITY ORAL :
Few substances have been so neglected and misunderstood regarding their potential therapeutic effects as hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin). Secreted by the placenta, the presence of hCG in the urine of pregnant women was first reported by Ascheim and Zondek in 1927. Since then, thousands of articles have been published about the effect of hCG on gonads (testicles or ovaries), but comparatively a small number of these have investigated its vast therapeutic potential on diseases ranging from Kaposi sarcoma, to asthma, psychoses, artheriopaties, thalassemia, osteopenia, alcoholism, glaucoma.
HCG is one of the few drugs of natural origin that, fortunately, still remain in the current Pharmacopoeia. For unknown reasons, most of the research performed on its therapeutic potential deals with investigations related to testicles or ovaries, with comparatively few investigations performed in other clinical fields.
